The Department of Physics was established in the year 1966. Dr. N. K. Sur was the founder head of the Department. There are ten teaching posts in the Department. The faculty members are having research expertise in different fields and have indexed journal publications to their credit. Department has modern lecture theatres with multimedia facilities, well equipped laboratories and project room. Department regularly organizes various activities including Ewing lecture series and competitions under the aegis of Physics Society. Indian Association of Physics Teachers ( IAPT) has selected the department as a centre for prestigious National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE). The department has made a remarkable progress on academic and related fronts.
